We’re sharing a look at what to expect in Classroom over the next year as we launch new features that will help Classroom work better with other products, offer richer tools for admins, improve the hybrid learning environment, and simplify educator workflows. To enable education leaders, we’re launching new tools like advanced analytics to help admins better understand usage and roster sync to save them time setting up classes. To empower educators, we’ll be launching Classroom add-ons so teachers can integrate their favorite third-party tools and content directly into the Classroom interface, and student engagement tracking so they can identify who may be falling behind. And to equip every student, we’ll be adding new features for uploading pictures of paper assignments as well as making the Classroom Android app work offline so students can download their assignments and complete them without relying on a steady connection.

What's new with originality reports?

We’ve improved originality reports in Classroom and Assignments to help students turn in their best work — while making it easy for instructors to check for potential plagiarism. Originality reports is expanding to 15 languages, more than many other leading plagiarism detection services.

Google Meet news and updates

Educators have new moderation controls, like the ability to end the meeting for all participants or mute everyone at once. Meet is also becoming more engaging and inclusive for students, with features like emoji reactions and improvements to performance on low bandwidths. Check out our blog to learn more.

What's new in Google Forms?

When responding to a Google Form, quiz, or quiz assignment in Classroom, progress will be automatically saved as a draft for 30 days, or until the form is completed. This means you won't have to start over if you can't complete a form or quiz in one sitting, if you want to switch between multiple devices, or if your internet connection cuts out before your answers have been submitted. We’ll be testing this feature soon and expect to roll it out to everyone in the coming months.

Introducing over 40 new Chromebooks for education, with more choice and flexibility with Always Connected and mobile broadband enabled devices, optimized for video-conferencing, and convertibles with touch screen. And with Chrome Education Upgrade, access over 500 policies in Google Admin Console like Zero Touch Enrollment. With more choice for students and educators, leverage features like a built in screen-recorder into Chrome OS to record lesson plans, and built in accessibility features like Switch access and Select-to-speak to make sure everyone can teach and learn in a way that works for them.

Classroom compatibility with CS First

CS First – our free, introductory computer science curriculum – is now better integrated with Google Classroom. Teachers are able to import student rosters from Google Classroom directly into a new CS First class; and students will be able to sign in to CS First using a Google account.
